Don’t be fooled by Matt LaFleur’s record in his five seasons as the Green Bay Packers’ head coach, which he just finished.

Since taking over prior to the 2019 season, the man has *gone through it all*.

He is one of the ones who deserves a calm and typical offseason.

Five years ago, he had just moved into his Wisconsin home when the questioning started. How will Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback, and LaFleur get along? What is “the audible thing” going to do? Who is actually in charge of the offence?

He answered that for the entire offseason, but his first season’s on-field performance said it all. In the end, Green Bay had a 13-3 record and qualified for the NFC Championship.

Having completed his first year, LaFleur may have believed that his second year.To everyone’s surprise, the Packers traded up to acquire quarterback Jordan Love. Even while some may have forgotten that Rodgers wasn’t among the league’s finest in 2019, it was a move that infuriated him (more on that in a bit). Although the decision is much easier to accept in retrospect, few people realized at the time that Green Bay had good reasons for selecting Love.

Next came playing football in the midst of a pandemic and spending a large portion of the season on an empty Lambeau Field. Even though it is still relatively recent history, the pictures still appear unreal four years later. It merely acts as a reminder of how swiftly events in our world might shift at any time.

After a season, LaFleur may have believed that his sophomore year would be different, allowing him to concentrate solely on football and have a typical offseason and season. Together, he and Rodgers had produced good work, and the future of Green Bay was promising.
