In anticipation of their eagerly awaited rematch with Green Bay, the Golden Grizzlies gear up for their last four regular-season games.

After losing to Cleveland State on Thursday, February 15, Oakland is still reeling from their defeat. The Golden Grizzlies kept the current top seed in close quarters, playing well both on offence and defence for the most of the game.

Over the course of the game, Linda Van Schaik scored 18 points and made four triples (4-of-7) for her greatest scoring performance since the Oakland season opening.

The Golden Grizzlies have one week to be ready for the Phoenix, and they intend to pull off another shock and sweep the season series against the club in second place. On January 20, Oakland triumphed against Green Bay 83-81 at the Blacktop.

Oakland knows they can compete with any team in the conference behind the third-highest scoring offence and the top rebounding and turnover-forcing defence in the Horizon conference, so they aren’t too concerned about the Golden Grizzlies’ all-time record of 6-16 versus the Phoenix.

A victory would significantly improve Oakland’s prospects of earning a home game in the Horizon League Championship Tournament’s first round, since the six, seven, and eight seeds all get to play their first round games at home. Oakland is currently one game behind Northern Kentucky for the eighth seed.

The Golden Grizzlies have won five of their six games decided by six or fewer points this season, including two game-winning baskets, suggesting that high-stakes circumstances are beneficial….
