Protests over the authority’s proposed budget cuts to balance the books have taken place outside the Coventry City Council buildings.

The council has stated that it is underpaid by the federal government and that a £30 million budget imbalance might put it in danger of declaring bankruptcy next year.

Staff members, activists, and nonprofit organisations, however, said that budget cuts had taken away a “lifeline” for On Tuesday, between sixty and seventy individuals convened at the offices.

The council has announced that it would be cutting £8.4 million in services in 2024–2025. Among the measures being considered are the elimination of 70% of street lighting at night, an increase in some municipal parking fees, and an annual charge of £40 to homes for garden trash collection.
