B.C. Lions sign ex-Bronco Dawson for training camp

Vancouver — A defensive back who had some success in 26 games with the Denver Broncos is giving the CFL a go.

The British Columbia Lions announced Tuesday that American Duke Dawson has been added to the team’s training camp roster

Dawson

who stands five feet eleven and weighs 182 pounds, is moving north after six seasons in the NFL, including a run with the Denver Broncos from 2019-20, during which he recorded 27 combined tackles (17 solo, 10 assisted) and two pass breakups. He then suffered a ruptured ACL in week 14 of the 2020 season and was placed on the practice roster to begin 2021.

The product of Cross City, Fla., began 2022 training camp with the Carolina Panthers before joining the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad in October.
