The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to have one of the best defenses in the game, but that’s not the case on the other side of the field.
There were some doubts about Kenny Pickett’s prospects as a franchise quarterback, and he hasn’t done much to appease those doubts since he made his debut.
Spielman,
Multiple reports claimed that the Steelers would enter the market for a quarterback, whether it was trading for Justin Fields or trying to make a run at either Kirk Cousins or Russell Wilson.
However, former NFL general manager and current analyst nRick Spielma confirmed a report that states otherwise.
Per the Steelers are still high on their former first-round pick and have no intention whatsoever to go in a different direction right now, via Steelers Depot.
He doesn’t expect them to be active in the pursuit of a quarterback, adding that they’re going to try to develop a new offense under new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
Needless to say, some fans might not be thrilled to hear that.
Then again, Pickett did look much better in the lone full game he played after Matt Canada’s firing.
Smith found a lot of success with a subpar quarterback in Ryan Tannehill, so there’s always hope he can work his magic with Pickett.
Still, this could be a very costly and risky gamble for Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan, and patience might be running out among Steelers fans.
