Guard RJ Davis of UNC broke the previous record at the Dean E. Smith Centre on Monday night when he scored 42 points to help the No. 9 Tar Heels (22-6, 14-3 ACC) defeat Miami (15-14, 6-12 ACC) 75-71. The fourth-year Tar Heel made 14 of 22 field goals, 7 of 11 shots from beyond the arc, and 7 of 9 shots from the charity stripe.
In his 35 minutes on the court, Davis, who is rapidly approaching admission into the 2,000-point club with 1,912 points after his career-high effort, added six rebounds, one assist, four steals, and just two turnovers. He achieved a first for the programme by scoring 1,900 points, 200 three-pointers made, 500 rebounds, and 300 assists.
Sort of, an elite target may be a two-year college player…..
