Prior to joining the Tractor Boys in April 2022, Williams worked with the Reds from 2017 to 2022, first as an Academy scout and subsequently as a First Team Recruitment Analyst. Manager Kieran McKenna and assistant Martyn Pert, with whom he had worked at United, had recommended him to Ipswich.
“We have scouts in place, we have technical recruitment and data in place, but we have been searching far and wide for someone to lead that team,” stated Ipswich CEO Mark Ashton at the time. We’ve discovered that person, and Martyn Pert has been a huge assistance to us with that. We are overjoyed.
Williams has been promoted to Lead Scout for 17 to 21 year olds at United, where he will be responsible for finding high-potential players in that age group….
