Manager John Schneider announced that Blue Jays pitcher Erik Swanson will be out of the lineup “for a while” following the Sunday vehicle accident involving his 4-year-old son Toby.
The manager announced the news at the team’s facilities in Dunedin, Florida on Tuesday. Swanson’s kid, who turned 4 last month, was taken to a hospital and “is on the road to recovery.”
“The family comes first.” Schneider stated, “Erik, Madison, Toby, and the rest of the Swanson family have our love, support, and prayers.”

Parker Kari, the couple’s 1-year-old daughter, and Swanson’s wife Madison have not yetto make a public statement on the incident.
Toby was hit by a 2024 Ford Expedition close to a hotel on Clearwater Beach, which is close to the Blue Jays spring training facilities, according to a police report that was reported by the Toronto Sun.
