Steelers Floated as Potential Trade Spot for QB Geno Smith

When it comes to upgrading their quarterback, the Pittsburgh Steelers are considering all of their alternatives, including trading for a quarterback.

With their quarterback situation in disarray, the Pittsburgh Steelers went into the offseason with urgency. They have some work ahead of them, and general manager Omar Kahn is aware of it as they currently only have one quarterback signed for the 2024 season.

Fans and media have suggested a number of names that the Steelers might take into consideration, and Kahn was questioned specifically about one of them: Justin Fields. Fields is a quarterback prospect who could be a trade target for the Chicago Bears, who control the first overall choice in a draft that is heavily loaded with quarterback prospects.

“I won’t delve into specifics regarding the discussions we’ve held,” Kahn stated in response to rumours that the Steelers might try to acquire Fields through trade. However, as I already stated, I can tell

Whether the Bears will trade Fields and select Caleb Williams (or one of the other top passers in this draft) or deal the No. 1 overall pick for a bigger package to build around Fields, who they traded up to take during the 2021 Draft. But the rest of the league is bracing for Chicago to make potentially the biggest move of the offseason.

Khan added that he is eager to see what Kenny Pickett, the  first-round pick who was benched late last season following an ankle injury for Mason Rudolph, can do with some new pieces in place on the offensive coaching staff. He expects the addition of Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator and Tom Arth as quarterbacks coach to be instrumental to Pickett’s development during a critical year.
