 The Orlando Magic defeated Washington 119-109 on Wednesday night, preventing the Wizards from winning 16 games in a row. Franz Wagner scored 28 points, Paolo Banchero added 25, and the Magic overcame a 21-point hole in the second quarter.

Washington (9-53) matched a losing streak from the 2009–10 season to set a new franchise record for the longest losing run. A 44-point second half against one of the league’s top defensive teams put an end to the Wizards’ hopes of turning around their current losing streak.

Nine games have been won by Orlando (37-26).

For Washington, which hasn’t triumphed since a win against San Antonio on January 29, Jordan Poole scored 26 points. For the Wizards, who haven’t triumphed at home since defeating Brooklyn on December 29, Kyle Kuzma contributed 25 points.

Washington had an 11-point advantage.
