Personally, I’m hoping the Steelers don’t choose a safety this season until they use one of their final two selections. Plenty of well-known players who can start beside Minkah Fitzpatrick are available in the free agency safety market. With all of the choices available potentially driving each other’s prices down, the defence should be able to locate a starter there, most likely at a fair price.
Nonetheless, since this was before free agency, a reliable safety who can operate within the box is essential. James Williams would supply that, and ultimately, he’ll make the NFL either there or as a hybrid linebacker. Pittsburgh makes sense if, for whatever reason, it disregards the safety market.
