Those are just a few of the reasons why the Bengals could target a wide receiver early in the 2024 NFL Draft. Former LSU receiver Brian Thomas Jr. reminds NFL analyst Greg Cosell of Higgins.
“As I watched all his targets, I thought there might be some similarities to Tee Higgins,” Cosell wrote via the 33rd Team. “Watching Thomas’ 2023 tape, I sensed that he is an ascending talent with much to be cultivated and developed as you project and transition him to the next level.”
Thomas had 1,177 yards and 17 touchdowns last year at LSU. He’s 6-3, 209 pounds and ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash. The Tigers asked him to win in contested catch situations regularly and he was able to go over the top of opposing defenders to make big catches.
Thomas is a draft riser and might not be on the board when the Bengals are on the clock in the first round.
It is reasonable to call him a darkhorse candidate for the No. 18 pick. He’s big, fast, can win over the top and has a chance to be better than Higgins at the next level due to his speed, size and length…
