Two days of inclement weather prevented  from hosting rival Louisville at Kentucky Proud Park earlier this month. The April 2 version of the Battle of the Bluegrass in Lexington was rescheduled for the following day and then postponed again to a makeup date to be named later.

The teams are scheduled to play the other game in the home-and-home series today in Louisville, setting up their first meeting in 2024. Jim Patterson Stadium will play host, with the first pitch at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Before UK (30-5, 14-1) and UofL (21-14, 7-8) meet on the diamond, get ready with these things to know about the matchup. And, as always, go Cats..

Kentucky has a significant lead in its all-time series with Louisville, historically holding a 64-49-1 record against the Cards. However, Louisville has been the better team lately, winning three of four since the 2020 season was canceled, including the last three in a row. The teams played only once in 2022 and 2023. Louisville won last year’s meeting in Lexington, 7-0.

Recent Results

— Louisville lost its weekend series at ninth-ranked Virginia, losing games on Friday (Virginia 21, Louisville 3) and Sunday (Virginia 16, Louisville 7). The Cards won Saturday’s game, 14-10.

— Kentucky swept Auburn at Auburn last weekend, needing a massive comeback on Saturday to complete another road sweep. UK scored 13 unanswered runs in the last five innings to win the third game on the Plains.

— Last week, both teams lost midweek games: Kentucky at Samford and Louisville at Western Kentucky. So, Tuesday night is a bounce-back opportunity for each dugout…
