After only one run in their last contest, Firebaugh made sure to put some runs up on the board against Tranquillity on Friday. Everything went the Firebaugh Eagles’ way against the Tranquillity Tigers as the Firebaugh Eagles made off with a 19-5 win. With that victory, Firebaugh brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Samantha Rangel made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Rangel was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-4.

 

In other batting news, Melissa Zapata was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with a home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. Ja’Dyn Jenkins was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Firebaugh pushed their record up to 9-12 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Tranquillity, they haven’t won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Firebaugh will take on Mendota at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Firebaugh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they’ve averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Tranquillity, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Coalinga at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coalinga’s pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Tranquillity’s hitters will have their work cut out for them….
