Saturday’s win for the Cottagers was actually made in Nigeria as Bassey got their opener for just a third goal of his entire career and a first for The Cottagers. The 24-year-old smashed the ball home from 10-yards after United failed to clear a corner to give the visitors the lead on 65 minutes.
Bassey wasn’t the only Super Eagles to have scored in the dramatic away win at Old Trafford as his compatriot, Alex Iwobi , struck with a stunning 97th minute winner for what was his fourth goal since his move to west London earlier this campaign.
Speaking on the famous win, Bassey reckoned Fulham ‘wanted it more’ than Manchester United.
